Retirement and Recognition Ceremony
Each spring, the Mercer community gathers to recognize those who have recently retired or have reached a service milestone with Mercer University. These members of our community have given much to the University and we gather to recognize them for their years of service and dedication. For our retirees, it is a time to say our farewells and to show our appreciation for their many years of hard work and commitment to Mercer University.
Employees reaching service levels of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years and above will receive service awards. The service award symbolizes the time and effort dedicated employees have provided Mercer University and the Mercer Engineering Research Center in support of the educational and developmental goals of our students, faculty, and staff and technological advances for our community, state, country and especially our national defense.
It is a wonderful time of celebration for the entire Mercer community! All faculty and staff are encouraged to attend this event as we gather to say thank you to these dedicated employees.
The Mercer Spirit Award
Each year Mercer Spirit Award winners will be announced at the University Retirement and Recognition Ceremonies on the Macon and Atlanta campuses held during the Spring. This community-based recognition award re-affirms Mercer's commitment to customer service and satisfaction and recognizes employees who exhibit exceptional behaviors of caring, respect, and the building of the Mercer community. It also recognizes the employees who have demonstrated a high level of service to members of the University community, both internal and external, as well as outside constituencies. Their accomplishments reflect a high level of service, dedication, conscientiousness and compassion, and going beyond what is normally expected.
Nominations for this award are accepted for full-time Mercer employees below the director or department head level and with at least five years of service to the university. Mercer employees wishing to nominate a current staff member for the Mercer Spirit Award will need to read the General Information for eligibility requirements and complete a nomination form. Nomination forms should be returned to the Human Resources office.
